T-Fest Riga: Concert Screen Control & IMAG

T-Fest drew 35,000 spectators to BTA Daugava Stadium — the largest concert in the stadium’s history. Ready Team was responsible for the live screen picture: our camera coverage occupied around 90% of the screen time, making our work a significant part of the show.

Ready Team provided screen control and IMAG for T-Fest’s stadium concert in Riga. We supplied the cameras, operators and production equipment, and our director led the live camera coverage. The organiser received the complete camera production from one team.

Live pictures for the stadium audience

At a stadium show, many people are watching from a distance. The screens help them see the artist’s expression, follow the action and feel closer to the performance. That live camera coverage is called IMAG, short for image magnification.

Our job was to create that picture for the screens. Camera operators covered the performance while our director selected the shots in real time. A close-up, a wider view and a moving camera shot each tell a different part of the story. The direction brings them together as the show unfolds.

What we supplied

This was a turnkey screen control and IMAG package. Our responsibility covered both the people making the pictures and the equipment they worked with.

• Live camera direction: choosing the shots and guiding the camera operators during the show.

• Camera crew: operators working across the production.

• Cameras and equipment: the camera package and the production equipment needed for our scope.

• Screen control and IMAG: managing the live camera picture for the venue screens.

For an organiser, that means one team to discuss the camera production with, from the equipment and crew to the way the performance appears on screen.

We delivered this project with support from Cine Service in Lithuania and the OperTec team. Thank you to both teams for their contribution to the production.

Based in Vilnius, Cine Service provides professional cameras, lenses and grip equipment for film production. OperTec develops and supplies specialist camera systems, including stabilised heads, camera cranes and remote rail systems.

Behind the screen picture

The photographs show the work around the performance: camera positions in the stands, the crew, a 4K broadcast lens with 90× zoom and the video control room. These are different parts of the same job — getting useful camera angles to the director and turning them into a live screen picture.
