Sports Live Streaming: Boxing, Savate, Replay & Video Review

A sports broadcast helps viewers follow the action. Video review helps officials examine an incident. These are different jobs, even when they use pictures from the same event. Ready Team provides sports production and has developed its own video review system for officials.

The broadcast starts before the first bout

A fight night needs a production plan before the crew arrives. The event schedule, camera positions, commentary arrangements, graphics and communication routes should be discussed with the organiser and venue. Access, power and crew facilities belong in the same preparation process as the pictures on screen.

One plan across the technical departments

Our preparation includes coordination with neighbouring departments and technical briefs for lighting, sound and power, together with crew requirements. We agree responsibilities within our production scope so that open questions are dealt with before load-in. English-language briefing and coordination are available for international organisers and agencies.

Broadcast replay: helping the audience follow the action

A replay shows viewers a moment they may have missed. The director must also stay aware of what is happening live. Agree who calls replays, when they can be shown and how the programme returns to the action. For example, a replay during a break needs a clear return cue before the next round begins.

Our own video review system for officials

Alongside broadcast replay, we have developed our own system for video-assisted review by officials, which we refer to as our VAR solution. This is a separate use from a replay shown to spectators. Its role is to support review; the sporting decision remains with the authorised officials.

Before the event, agree who can request a review, who operates the system and how officials receive the pictures. Follow the competition’s review procedure. A replay requested for the broadcast should not be confused with a review requested by an official.

Boxing and Savate production experience

Our work includes Fight Nation Boxing Night and collaboration with the French Savate federation. When briefing a similar event, tell us which parts you need: the live broadcast, replays for viewers, video review for officials, or a combination.

What to include in your sports broadcast brief

Send the event date and venue, the bout schedule, the intended broadcast destinations and your commentary and graphics requirements. Tell us whether you need replay for the audience, video review for officials, or both. For an official review workflow, identify the competition rules and the person responsible for agreeing the procedure.
